Hi, I’m Dawn McLeod and I have been working professionally as a photographer since 2014. In that time, I have photographed thousands of people in a variety of settings and backdrops. I take pride in ensuring that people feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera which allows me to capture imagery that documents a genuine and authentic version of them. This approach ensures their natural personality shines through in the images, creating timeless and heartfelt moments.
My style is timeless and genuine. I like to think of it as blending art and authenticity. I want you to look at your images 25 years from now and remember that brief moment in time as it was captured. Life is busy and time goes by so quickly. I endeavor to capture images and memories that will last a lifetime. I like to capture both posed and unposed, authentic moments.
Family sessions, intimate weddings and corporate and event photography is my focus. I think you will find me friendly, outgoing and patient. Also, I have never met a dog that I didn’t like and always welcome them for family sessions.

Absolutely, you can purchase a la carte images if you wish.
The number of images you receive depends on the package you purchase. Only those images that are technically and creatively acceptable by me, as your photographer, will be shared in your proofing gallery. From those images you get to choose which images you would like to keep. Don’t worry, there will be plenty to choose from.
No, you do not. The digital images that you select as part of your package are yours to print where you wish. I can make recommendations or I can handle the printing for you if you wish but it is not a requirement.
We have so many beautiful locations here in the Nation’s Capital. I have several locations I like to frequent. It often depends on the time of year. Lilacs and blossoms are here for a fleeting time in Ottawa. There are a few beaches to choose from. We have lovely nature trails for a more forested look. Fall is spectacular almost anywhere in Ottawa.
Neutrals are timeless. Try to avoid big logos and graphics. Think about coordinating and complementing each other as opposed to matching each other. Everyone doesn’t need to be in navy blue and denim etc… Start with one outfit and build from there. I suggest starting with a neutral coloured item. Then choose an accent colour and try to marry that with other items family members may already have. A fun pair of shoes or a scarf, a shirt etc…I am always available to discuss any outfits you are considering. I will give you an honest opinion. Above all, you should be you, don’t purchase something just to coordinate with your group. You will most likely regret it later.
Rain is always a possibility. Cloudy days can make for beautiful images. The session will go ahead as planned unless it is raining. We can mutually keep an eye on the weather and touch base closer to your session. I like to wait until the night before or the morning of the session to decide if we should reschedule.
Weddings: These can take longer due to the sheer volume of images. We would discuss this and consider factors such as the size of the wedding and how many hours you would like coverage for etc… Smaller weddings would be up to 4 weeks but possibly longer for larger weddings.
Events: I make every effort for a quick turnaround time for event photography. Lets discuss your event and specific needs.
